Blockbuster TOKYOは東京都が主催、Beyond Next Ventures株式会社が運営をする創薬・医療系ベンチャー育成支援プログラムです。アカデミアの研究者、スタートアップの経営陣として数々のトランスレーショナルリサーチを実行してきた、米国大手再生医療・細胞治療ベンチャーBioCardia社のCSOであるIan McNiece氏をゲストにお招きします。
Beyond Next Ventures, Inc. operates Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Blockbuster TOKYO" which is an acceleration program for pharmaceutical and medical startup. Special guest is Dr Ian McNiece, CSO at BioCardis, who has supported the varirety of translation researches of cell therapies over his distinguished career through a variety of positions globally in Academia, executive teams and policy.

COVID-19は、既に過度な負担がかかっていた世界の医療システムに更に大きな影響を与えました。同時に、医療分野に携わる人々には新たな動きが生まれています。例えば、今まで以上にアカデミアの研究者をベンチャーの起業に駆り立てたり、グローバル製薬企業が新たな治療法の臨床試験を進めています。政府・開発者・臨床医が人命救助のために協力しあうことで、今までになかったコラボレーション・イノベーションが生まれています。一方、既存の治験パイプラインに予期しなかった影響が出ることが予想されます。それらを踏まえ、今回の研修プログラムでは将来的な治験戦略についてディスカッションしたいと思います。
COVID-19 has had an even greater impact on the already overburdened global healthcare system. At the same time, it is creating new moves for medical players. For example, more and more motivated academia researchers to start new ventures, and global pharmaceutical companies are advancing clinical trials of new treatments. Collaboration between governments, developers and clinicians to save lives has created unprecedented collaboration and innovation. On the other hand, it is expected that existing pipelines for clinical trials will have unexpected effects. Based on these, we will discuss future clinical trial strategies
