LINK-J President and CEO Akihiko Soyama becomes a member of The Council for Fostering Medical Start-Ups of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

Tokyo, Japan, August 4, 2017--On July 31, the first meeting of The Council for Fostering Medical Start-Ups was organized by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and Takahiro Uchida, CEO of Japanese Organization for Medical Device Development, Inc., Keita Mori, CEO of SanBio Company Limited, supporters of Life Science Innovation Network Japan, Inc. (LINK-J), and LINK-J Secretary General Akihiko Soyama became members of the Council.

The Council for Fostering Medical Start-Ups has been established as a forum for discussion among experts based on the recommendations in a report on Start-Ups Supporting Innovation in Medicine, which was organized by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare until last year. The mission of the Council is to undertake initiatives for fostering medical start-ups, verify the effectiveness of the initiatives, and establish a PDCA cycle for improvement. At the first meeting of the Council, the progress of initiatives for fostering medical start-ups and their effects were reviewed, and a policy for more effective initiatives was presented.
