LINK-J members exceeds 200, including corporations and individuals

Approximately 80% of the members participated in the interaction and networking of life science field

In February 2018, Life Science Innovation Network Japan, Inc. (head office: Nihonbashi-Honcho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; chairman of the board: Hideyuki Okano; hereinafter "LINK-J") which is operating to aim in creating new platform in the life science field, has achieved in exceeding more than 200 members including corporations and individuals.

Since its foundation in 2016, LINK-J has been based in the Nihonbashi area where medicine-related companies gather and has developed interaction and collaboration through symposiums, seminars and events to promote open innovation in the field of life science with industry-government-academia cooperation.

In 2017, Nihonbashi Life Science base has held 380 events (open and more than 30 event / program only). In addition, there are programs that LINK-J sponsors such as "Out of Box consultation room" and "SANDBOX" which is targeted against researchers and startup companies with an aim of fosters endeavors to put research outcomes into practical use. No appointment is required for this program and it is also free of charge.

Akihiko Soyama, Director President and Chief Executive Officer of LINK-J, commented "We are very pleased that the activity of LINK-J is acknowledged and 80% of our members have joined us with the purpose of interaction and networking with other organization. We will continue to contribute in further revitalizing in open innovation through interaction, collaboration projects, development and support of entrepreneurs".

LINK-J has signed a memorandum of understanding with six life science organizations both in Japan and overseas. In addition, LINK-J is collaborating with organization that hold office in 3 buildings located in Nihonbashi where LINK-J is also headquartered such as Osaka University, Kyoto University, the University of Tokyo, Tohoku University, the University of California San Diego, Kyushu University, Keio University, and other 50 universities, companies and industry associations related in the field of life sciences.

LINK-J will continue in creating life science innovation as well as new industry by supporting the commercialization and industrialization of the life science field through sharing information, interaction, operating symposiums, seminars, events, and fostering entrepreneurs.

Life Science Innovation Network Japan, Inc. (LINK-J)

LINK-J is a general incorporated association established by Mitsui Fudosan and volunteers from academic circles. With its base in the Nihonbashi area, home to several pharmaceutical companies, LINK-J aims to promote open innovation in the life science realm through industry-government-academia cooperation and to extend support to the creation of new industries. As a platform for the entire life science area, namely the area where all sciences are combined, ranging from medicine to science and further to engineering or new technologies, such as information and communication technology (ICT) or artificial intelligence (AI), it will accelerate interdisciplinary human and technological exchange.
