Fraunhofer IPT is renowned for new approaches for production automation in Life Science. Production Automation and Optical Imaging in the Life Science market is of growing significance. It is expected to expand additionally over the next years with: The importance of improved production technologies for robust, reproducible and cost-efficient production of ATMPs (advanced therapeu-tical products).
We at Fraunhofer IPT have over a decade of experience in the automated production of stem cells and have already implemented several projects with industry to successfully automate the production of tomorrow's therapies. Dipl.-Phys. Niels König, Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, Head of Department Production Metrology

Niels König studied physics at RWTH Aachen majoring in solid state physics and biomedical engineering. He worked as a scientist in the Production Metrology Department at the Fraunho-fer IPT from 2007 to 2013, concentrating on the design and manufacturing of fiber optic micro probes for interferometric distance metrology and the development of customized measure-ment systems. In 2010 he became manager of the group Fiber Optics. Since September 2013, Niels König has been chief engineer of the department "Production Metrology" at the Fraunho-fer IPT.

Bastian Nießing, M. Sc., Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, Group Manager Automation in Life Sciences

Bastian Nießing, M. Sc., born in 1991, studied medical engineering at the University of Aachen and Stuttgart and has been working as a research assistant in the department of Production Metrology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT since 2017. Since 2020, he is managing the group Automation in Life Sciences.
