昨年に引き続き、米国西海岸・サンディエゴから、LINK-Jが特別パネルディスカッションをお送りします。
本イベントでは、カリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校（UCSD）で数多くのスタートアップ支援に携わっているDennis Abremski教授とAmy Nguyen-Chyung教授、さらにUCSDと縁のある京都大学イノベーションキャピタルの八木信宏さんをお招きして、日米のスタートアップエコシステムの現状と未来、協業について熱く語り合います。

 | Nobuhiro Yagi, PhD, Executive Officer・General Manager of Investment Dept.1, Kyoto University Innovation Capital Co., Ltd. 国内外の産官学の研究所での基礎研究からキャリアをスタートし、前職の大手製薬会社での学際融合による新事業領域立ち上げの主導や経営戦略の経験を経て2016年8月より京都大学イノベーションキャピタル(株)にJoin。事業領域を問わず、アカデミアの基礎研究の成果を基に新会社を組成するディープテックの創業案件を得意とする。代表的な投資先に日本発の核融合ベンチャーである京都フュージョニアリング、リーガルテック大手のLegalOn Technologiesがある。京都大学の起業家クラブ“ECC-iCAP”のファウンダーでもあり、現在も化学や医学領域での教育研究を継続している。 |
 | Prof. Dennis Abremski, Executive Director, Institute for the Global Entrepreneur, Jacobs School of Engineering, UC San Diego Abremski came to UC San Diego most recently from SoCal EED, a non-profit focused on advancing early stage biomedical and personal health-related companies, where he was the Vice President. A founder and startup veteran, Abremski earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and has built a career by balancing his business and technology expertise. He has held executive positions in technology, international sales, business development, and operations, primarily in the wireless communications and electronics devices industries. |
 | Prof. Amy Nguyen-Chyung, Assistant Teaching Professor and Co-Director of the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur, a collaboration between Rady and the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering Dr. Nguyen-Chyung is Co-Director of the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur, a collaboration between Rady and the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering. She is also on the Faculty Committee advising the Sullivan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and is Faculty Director of the Rady MicroMBA. As Rady faculty, she has led the new venture development capstone, in which MBA and graduate engineering teams launch new ventures or work with campus and community innovators. She has contributed towards evolving Rady’s capstone programs, supervising over 135 ventures and enabling over 100 student teams to work with organizations to address challenging problems with innovative solutions. Dr. Nguyen-Chyung’s research is in the area of entrepreneurship and strategy, investigating sources and consequences of heterogeneity in choices of entrepreneurial individuals and firms. She has earned a number of highly selective research awards and grants, including from the Kauffman Foundation, and is also recipient of Rady's Most Valuable Professor award. Most recently, she led Rady’s first global immersion to Vietnam in 2024. Prior to coming to Rady, she was Assistant Professor of Strategy at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, where she was nominated for the university-wide Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Weekend MBA Teaching Excellence Award. She has taught a broad range of entrepreneurship and global strategy courses across Rady, Ross, Haas, and Wharton. Dr. Nguyen-Chyung also has 15+ years of industry experience in management consulting and international finance helping organizations (from Fortune 500 to startups) to strategize or finance their growth. Dr. Nguyen-Chyung holds a PhD and MS in Business Administration (Business and Public Policy – business economics area) from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School, a joint-MBA-MPA from Penn’s Wharton School and Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, and an undergraduate degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard. |
 | Ikuo Hayashi, PhD, General Manager of LINK-J After working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Tokyo, he engaged in drug discovery research in the field of neurological diseases (e.g., Target ID/validation, development of in vitro assay systems) as a researcher at Merck Research Laboratories, USA and Toray Pharmaceutical Research Laboratories, Inc. in Japan. After working as COO at Hamamatsu Pharma Research USA, Inc. in San Diego, U.S., he joined Open Innovation Center at Bayer Japan in May 2020 and was involved in programs such as the startup support program Kansai Life Science Accelerator Program and a shared lab/office space, CoLaborator Kobe. |
